Welcome to our first blog! How exciting! Well, we are probably a little bit more excited than you but still thanks for coming!
This blog and all future blogs will aim to pass on some of our knowledge about Spanish cuisine and why it is one of the world’s best cuisines. So without further ado, let’s start!
Tapas style restaurants are not that well-known in Christchurch yet, there are a few who have taken the concept and tried to make it work out. But a lot of people are still wondering…what is Tapas food and how do they work? There are lots of misconceptions about Tapas out there. We’re going to help you understand the world of Tapas. This is one dining experience you certainly won’t want to miss.
Tapas Food
Tapas is a style of food rather than a specific dish. It is believed that Tapas originated in Spain before the 19th century! How crazy is that? Since then, Tapas styled restaurants have tried to maintain the legacy and tradition.
First of all, a “tapa” simply put is a smaller portion of food that’s full of flavour (at least they are here at Castro’s). Any dish can be served as a tapa. But not all dishes should be made into Tapas; you wouldn’t want to cut a delicious burger into a small tapa size dish, would you? haha
Castro’s tapas restaurant’s idea is to let our guests experience a taste of Spain in the most authentic way right here in Christchurch. You may be wondering, what should I order then? When you come with your friends, partner, family, or even a first date, you should order lots of small plates and share them. This way, you can try a selection of different dishes all at once.
What to order?
Now that Tapas’ concept is clear (or at least we hope we made it clear enough for you), it is time to show you how some of our most popular Tapas look!
